Charlie Croker pulls off a flawless bullion heist amongst the waterways of Venice, what he hadn't counted on was the betrayal of one of his crew. A year later Charlie and his team are back in LA and still keen to get their money…and some pay back. The Italian Job is a big budget, super glossy action heist flick, if all reference to the seminal original starring Michael Caine had been dispensed with it would stand as slick slice of escapism, but since it did decide to make the association it lacks the originality, wit, class, and, arguably, the best car chase ever committed to celluloid.
