The original El Mariarchi is lured out of retirement, by the murder of the woman he loves and the encouragement of a borderline sociopath, in a bullet riddled pyrotechnic extravaganza that marks the final chapter of Rodriguez's contemporary Mexican/Western trilogy. Rest assured El Mariachi is up against some very bad men and an implausibly large number of sidekicks in what turns out to be an hour and a half of heavily stylised shoot outs. 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico' has lost much of the tightness and wit of its predecessor but, as an all guns blazing action flick, it does the business admirably.
