Frank is a highly successful dentist, life is comfy, that is until Susan enters his life and creates a whole world of pain. Novocaine is considerably darker comedic fare than we are used to seeing Steve Martin in these days, and though personally speaking that can only be a good thing, this is still flawed due largely to the fact that as a black comedy it's not quite sharp enough.
