ABOUT A BOY (2002)
PAUL WEITZCHRIS WEITZ
Plot
Will Freeman has everything a man approaching his forties dreams of...responsibility to nobody but himself and the financial means to make this momentous task a reality. Will's more sensible and settled friends are concerned for him, how could he not want the joys of parenthood, how can he survive the fickleness of such a self-absorbed existence indefinitely? Sadly Will is forced to 'grow up' when he is befriended (or to be more accurate stalked) by a super nerdy, but of course very likeable and wise beyond his years, twelve-year-old called Marcus. About A Boy is yet another adaptation of a Nick Hornby novel and once again they've done a hugely entertaining job of it. Light, silly, perceptive and witty, even the casting of Hugh Grant makes perfect sense.
