MIKE BASSETT: ENGLAND MANAGER (2001)
STEVE BARRON
Plot
Mike Bassett is England's managerial hope for the World Cup, what he doesn't know about football could just about be squeezed into Shakespeare's collected works and his team formations hark back to the halcyon days when a football was still just an inflated pig's bladder. Thanks to a lucky fluke, following a series of defeats, England qualify for the finals, but as Mike continues to lead his team through disaster after disaster he confirms his position as the most vilified Englishman in the history of the game. Can he win the public's support and can he bring home the glory?... It's not buggering likely is it! 'Mike Bassett: England Manager' is an hilarious spoof on the recent history of English international football, particularly the periods under Robson and Taylor, and is especially recommended for followers of the beautiful game.
