The year is 1977, Phoebe O'Connor has just finished high school and has enrolled to start university in the Autumn; but the young woman, on the cusp of adulthood, is haunted by the suicide of her vivacious and beautiful sister Faith, six years earlier. Phoebe decides to retrace Faith's travels across Europe in the hope of unravelling the mystery surrounding her death. The Invisible Circus is a likeable and visually attractive film, but it flits uncomfortably between drama and thriller to its detriment.
