In a town ravaged by unemployment since the local coal mines closed, leftwing teacher Daniel, the head of a kindergarten, becomes increasingly distraught over the suffering endured by his minions. Battling against a bureaucratic system that turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to all pleas for help, Daniel is determined to bring hope to the desperate community. Set in northern France, this is a brutal, often raw, look at one man's struggle to make a difference. Unpatronising social conscience cinema.
