High-society high-drama set in mid-19th Century Paris. Jessica Lange is Bette, a spiteful, sour spinster who plots a cunning revenge against her aristocratic family and ex-lover, all of whom have spurned her. Using scarlet woman Jenny (Elisabeth Shue) as her tool, she easily persuades her to sleep with as many marauding noblemen as possible, plunging Parisian society into chaos. An ambitious attempt, but "Dangerous Liaisons" it ain't.
