Pacino is superb as Carlito, a mobster who has one last chance to go straight, thanks to his slick lawyer (Penn). The problem is that he now owes the increasingly unstable Penn a favour, and it might be his undoing. Brilliantly directed and moving story, with fine performances from all the cast.
