Matteo Garrone's follow-up to his award-winning Gomorrah takes an altogether more light-hearted look at life in contemporary Naples, focusing on Luciano, a good-natured if more than slightly fishy fishmonger. Urged on by friends to audition for Italian Big Brother, the lure of stardom begins to have unforeseen effects on his way of life. Less a satire of reality TV culture than a study of the psychology of an ordinary man and his dreams of fame, Reality makes for an interesting flipside to Garrone's previous film. (JB)
