With a freshly failed marriage behind him, rookie reporter Bob Wilton decides to lose himself in the romance of war by travelling to Iraq to report from the front line. Once there however Bob swiftly discovers that the surreal mixture of tedium and terror isn't really what he'd hoped for, a discomfort compounded by hooking up with a clearly deranged member of the special forces who has been trained in mind control techniques. Based on the �non-fiction' book by Jon Ronson, 'Men Who Stare At Goats' is a strangely un-engaging war satire, not bright or sharp enough to stand out and painfully/self-consciously aware of how �quirky' it is. Not a disaster, but definitely disappointing.
