Ryan Reynolds plays a fat sappy high school graduate who's in love with his best friend (Amy Smart), but after being richly humiliated he leaves his small New Jersey town vowing never to return. Shift forward ten years and our hero has become a handsome, successful young man when fate, and a mad diva, dump him back down in the place of his birth and his old true love. Just Friends is a likable romantic comedy determined in its unoriginality and carried along nicely by Reynold's gift for physical farce.
