As the vicar of Little Wallop, Walter Goodfellow is a fine upstanding member of the community, as a husband and father however, he's close to useless. Walter's wife, Gloria, is at her wit's end and not adverse to the attentions of her leering golf instructor. When the new housekeeper, Grace, arrives, the Goodfellow family finally begins to become some sort of unit. Unfortunately Grace, though sweet, is a good few sandwiches short of a full hamper and thinks nothing of dispatching any and all that might disrupt the family idyll. Keeping Mum is a very British comedy, blackly farcical and reminiscent of the darker Ealing comedies of old.
