Jake Green is fresh from the clink after a seven year stretch for a crime he didn't commit, but his time inside wasn't wasted. He has now perfected the ultimate casino con and is unbeatable on the tables. Jake wants revenge on the casino owner who put him away and, after narrowly escaping an assassination, he falls in with two mysterious gangsters whose motives are unclear but their ruthless effectiveness is without doubt. Revolver is an attempt by Guy Richie to turn the British gangster flick into a cerebral and labyrinthine feast for the mind and while it's visually flashy, fast paced and sharply edited no one can be expected to utter the increasingly ridiculous cod philosophy and still look good…least of all Jason Statham. Floored by its own deeply deluded pretensions you can't help feeling an intriguing idea has been massacred. Bizarrely, I quite liked it…though there maybe an element of car crash voyeurism to that.
