Silvia Broome is a beautiful UN interpreter who believes she may have overheard a plot to assassinate an African head of state, Tobin Keller is a super efficient but tortured Secret Service agent assigned to investigate and protect her. Though at first suspicious of the other's motives, Silvia and Tobin must learn to trust each other if the truth is to be uncovered and the killers caught. All sound kinda familiar?...Yup, that would be because its the movie equivalent of a dodgy car with a new paint job, hackneyed plot with two shiny highbrow Hollywood stars plopped on top in the hope we won't notice how woeful everything else is. The Interpreter is not completely without merit, but if you're looking for a genuinely intelligent thriller...ask a member of staff for recommendations.
