Rodney Bingenheimer is the most unassuming of individuals in the flesh, but there he is, ‘Zelig’ like, with his arm around half the super stars of pop music, from Bowie to Blondie, The Sex Pistols to errr….Coldplay. As a close friend of Sonny and Cher from his teens, Rodney’s role as a DJ at KROQ formed his position as the unofficial ‘Mayor Of Sunset Strip’. Odd, confused, often shallow and by association, dull, Rodney’s place in the hearts of those bands he’s helped nudge up the ladder of success will hopefully remain; but this documentary is much more an observation of the seemingly unfathomable nature of ‘the iconic celebrity’, and a fascinating insight it is to.
