Jean Reno returns as Inspector Niemans to investigate a series of brutal killings which seem to mimic the deaths of the twelve apostles. The occult, Nazis and the apocalypse - always a fun combination but this effort to follow up the success of 'Crimson Rivers' doesn't quite gel. The various elements of the plot are intriguing, the cinematography moody and dark and Reno is as charismatic as usual but the whole thing just doesn't hang together comfortably, leaving one with the sense of a missed opportunity.
