Ron is a priviledged young white kid who's sent to an implausably hardcore prison when convicted for dealing marijauna. Ron's only hope of survival is to befriend the menacing Earl, a lifer who rules his fellow inmates with a brutal touch. Animal Factory is an occassionally brutal and disturbing tale, but the depth of characterisation and the quality of acting, make for an intense and thoughtful film.
