Bob is an unsuccessful gambler, but he's also an ex-bank robber, and like most people down on their luck Bob decides to return to his old job. Being as this comes from the same director as "Le Samourai", however, you just know things aren't going to be simple and Bob finds himself in a labyrinth of underworld deceit and deception.
