It's The Blues Brothers meets Almost Famous meets Winnie the Pooh, for kids! Based on the Country Bear Jamboree, a show for kids at Disneyland which features animatronic bears on swings, dressed like Elvis and singing their own interpretations of Beach Boy songs. Young Beary Barrington (with the saccharin voice of Haley Joel Osment) sets out on a journey to find the Country Bear Hall and his heroes but when he discovers that a mean-spirited banker (Christopher Walken) wants to foreclose the hall, all of the bears must band together. With cameos from the likes of stars like Bonnie Raitt, Country Bears looks like a Fleetwood Mac: Behind the Music with more fur (if possible) and more demonstrations of the perils of too much money...I mean, honey. Regardless of the fact that Country Bear Jamboree is THIS reviewer's favourite thing about Disneyland, this is a great family film that's different than your run-of-the-mill kid's stuff.
