Fantastic and imaginative exploration of how a young person might deal with grief. Brilliantly told by Patrick Ness and superbly realised by J.A. Bayona, this is one story that balances drama and CGI with aplomb. Incredibly moving, deftly handled and one of my favourite films of last year. Liam Neeson's gravelly voice is brilliantly put to use as the tree. It's wonderful, please watch it!

The tenth feature from writer-director Noah Baumbach is, he’s admitted, his most personal, inspired at least in part by his divorce from Jennifer Jason Leigh in 2010. With such a history, you’d be forgiven for fearing a biased telling of love gone wrong. For as much as it is a story of divorce, it’s about t find out more...

Madonna doesn't try to steal the show and consequently this turns out to be an excellent film. In 1943, with the males away fighting, The All American Girls' Professional Baseball League was formed to keep the National Baseball League running. Hanks is the real star as the cynical manager/coach who learns to love his team. A comic and touching story highlighting many of the contradictions that working women face. High slush factor. find out more...

One of Hollywood's saddest heartbreakers with the emotional Garland, fast approaching her final crack-up, superb as the fast rising young star leaving behind her true love, Mason in one of his greatest performances, on the slippery road to failure. The DVD version includes important excised footage, many scenes admirably filling gaps in the original, rediscovered in archives. find out more...
