The 'City of God' is a slum town within the confines of Rio De Janeiro and a place of such casual and seemingly infinite brutality that no one but its residents ever venture within its borders. Rocket is one young man who has made a conscious decision to escape his 'home town' and it is through his eyes that we view this mesmerizing vision of a society where violence and the ruthlessness to use it have run amok. 'City Of God' is a truly awesome film, a heart pounding journey, with relentless pac find out more...

Dark and brooding sci-fi treat from the director of "The Crow". In a city controlled by "The Strangers" - a colony of spooky bald aliens - everything stops at midnight. The citizens' memories are reprogrammed, and their surroundings altered, with everyone waking up in a state of dazed confusion. Everyone that is, except John Murdoch, (Rufus Sewell) who is somehow immune to the induced collective trance, and who knows that the murder rap he is suddenly, supposedly, facing is a nonsense. Sinister find out more...
DICK (2000)

An alternative theory as to who it was who made the Watergate scandal public. Two particularly fluffy high-school bunnies stumble into a series of paper shredding and general skulduggery. Blessed with the combined intelligence of a single-celled amoeba, the girls spent half of the film completely oblivious to the corruption around them, but when reality finally dawns, their trickiness puts everyone else in the shade. Dick is as ridiculous as such films come, but thanks to some inspired performan find out more...

A brilliant movie from the same director as "Stranger Than Paradise". Our three low-life heroes escape from jail into the Louisiana swamps and find that they might have been better off inside. Off-beat, very stylish, funny and just brilliant! find out more...
FARGO (1996)

An excellent black comedy, handsome thriller and a tall story that keeps you guessing as it unwinds. The genuinely ridiculous plot (a man pays a couple of goons to 'pretend' to kidnap his wife in order to get his paws on his in-laws' 'ransom' money) is completely credible as mighty plans fall apart, spiralling ever more beyond the protagonist's control and leaving us marvelling at the complex stupidity of human nature. A modern classic.
