Ron Howard attempts to out-Spielberg Spielberg in the mawkish tale of old people finding reinvigoration at the hands of kindly aliens from another planet. The reasons for its appeal are fairly obvious, especially if you are old. After taking a dip in a swimming pool where the eponymous cocoons are kept, errant inhabitants from a nearby residential home find their energy levels boosted and (gulp) their libido resuscitated.
