Madonna doesn't try to steal the show and consequently this turns out to be an excellent film. In 1943, with the males away fighting, The All American Girls' Professional Baseball League was formed to keep the National Baseball League running. Hanks is the real star as the cynical manager/coach who learns to love his team. A comic and touching story highlighting many of the contradictions that working women face. High slush factor.

Africa United is the story of three Rwandan kids who walk 3000 miles to the Soccer World Cup in South Africa in pursuit of an unlikely dream. And as they walk they gather a ragamuffin team who help negotiate their way through a series of glorious, dangerous, and outright bizarre situations. It’s a big-hearted road movie with more than a dash of Disney that will either infuriate or inspire (depending on your outlook on life).

She's bloody vile these days, is Meg Ryan, as she continues to do herself no career favours. This 'gutsy' film about a 'strong' woman ends up being twee, generic and cliched, not to mention jaw-droppingly anti-feminist. Sort it out Meg, or we won't even buy your trademark rom-coms anymore, no matter how often they rent.

A big glossy biog of Muhammad Ali at his peak, and though 'When we were Kings' has to go down as one of the most riveting sport documentaries that there has ever been this is still a hugely accomplished movie, thanks largely to the slickness of Mann's film making and a superlative performance by Will Smith.
