Nothing more can be said about this classic melodrama from the peak of the Hollywood studio-film era. NORTH BY NORTHWEST (1959)
CertificationPG Our Rating
Undoubtedly one of Hitch's best. An innocent businessman is mistaken for a spy by enemy agents and learns the true meaning of persecution, while a deceptively beautiful blonde in the pay of his tormentors steals his heart. A tense and compulsively gripping nice-guy's nightmare. Obligatory viewing.

SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959)

One of the all-time classics, which surely needs no introduction. A beautifully paced and witty comedy, including Curtis's great parody of Cary Grant's playboy image, and one of the greatest lines of all time.... "Nobody's perfect" when Joe Brown discovers his fiancee is a man.

While on his travels the director finds the lovely Veronica Lake, and more trouble than he ever imagined. Some truly inspired set

One of the great sixties films, the one that brought Dustin Hoffman to public notice, as he plays an alienated Los Angelian rich kid searching for a meaning in life and discovering sex. Great movie to be watched, or rewatched, and with a superb soundtrack by Simon and Garfunkel.

TOOTSIE (1982)

Dustin plays an out of work struggling actor - all the roles seem to be for women, so he gets into drag and lands a part in a soap opera. However spending 50% of his time as a popular female star introduces a lot of problems into his love life. This comedy is not a drag!

VERTIGO (1958)
CertificationPG Our Rating
Another Hitchcock masterpiece, featuring some of the most inventive and unsettling camera work in cinema. Stewart plays a retired detective who is hired by a friend to follow his unstable wife. However the plot is considerably more entangled than it appears from the outset as Stewart becomes a witness to the wife's death. A moody and considered psycho-drama...
