A French detective, Brunel, on an exchange scheme in London is assigned to investigate the supposed murder of novelist John Morlar (Burton), but, on arriving at the crime scene, they discover that, despite heavy injuries, the victim is still alive and have him rushed to hospital.
With the help of Morlar's journals and Dr Zonfeld (Remick), a psychiatrist whom the author had started visiting, Brunel reconstructs Morlar's past life, which (seen in flashback) is full of inexplicable catastrophes.

Pam's just your average middle aged woman, understood by few, acknowledged by even fewer, but when she discovers the joys of yam, her life takes a turn for the affirmative, and an unexpected fast track to the media limelight. A home-grown Bristolian satire that is a bit of an enigma, I mean is the acting deliberately awful to somehow compliment the cheesy dialogue or are they mutually exclusive?
