French couple Clementine and Lucas live an idyllic existance in their isolated and stately home nestled in the Romanian countryside, but their peaceful haven is brutally shattered one night when they find their home and their lives besieged by a gang of murderous 'hoodies'. 'Them' is a taut and well crafted psychological horror, a fine exercise in minimalism dependent on creepy sounds and movement, no FX, no men with axes nor gore here. Caveat for French speakers, the first 15 minutes is largely spoken in Romanian.
