Tommy Lee Jones gives a sensitive performance as the soldier trying to save both her and himself. Well crafted human drama and a moving love story.

1st feature: Set in the 1890s this adaptation of Harold Brighouse's working class comedy sees a tyrannical bootmaker brought to heel when his plain-speaking daughter marries his down-trodden simple-minded employee and makes a successful business. Keen direction and fine performances make this a great comedy.

This is a striking stylised dramatisation of the young Beat Generation icon Allen Ginsberg, focusing particularly on the infamous 1957 obscenity trial of his seminal work ‘Howl’ during the tail end of McCarthyism. While the performances from all involved are excellent and the story an intriguing one it is the visual cool of this film that lingers longest.
