Disney remake of the 1949 movie of the same name. A kind of King Kong for kids, this rollicking adventure starts off in the remote mountains of Central Africa, where 15ft gorilla Joe has grown up with his best friend Jill (Charlize Theron). When the gentle giant's idyllic existence is destroyed by an invasion of poachers, he's whisked to the safety of an animal sanctuary by Jill and a kindly zoologist. But when word gets out that the mythical primate is alive and well and living in California, it alerts an old enemy from the past, - a ruthless hunter who'll do anything to get his hands on Joe. An exciting and heartwarming family film.
