Larry Clark directs the skate-boarding kids from New York in this infamous film about urban American youth. The story is pretty thin and is about a young girl called Jennie (played by Chloe Sevigny) who discovers she is HIV positive thanks to the obnoxious Telly, and goes in search of him before he infects someone else. Hailed as an Indie masterpiece when premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, it got instant notoriety for the realistic style Clark captures and the explicit and violent scenes in it. Clark's use of untrained actors works surprisingly well, and the casual cruelty it portrays is particularly affecting. The hollow and unpleasant characters makes for an impressive, but somewhat empty film.
