A double-bill of immeasurable pleasure. A young man and his girlfriend move into thre man's old mansion home, where he becomes possessed by a need to control ancient demons. The eponymous Ghoulies from some hellish dimension, who wreak havoc on the lives of anyone they encounter. The sequel is even better, with the creatures given free reign to cause terror at a theme park, populated by mullet-haired breadheads and their feckless sweethearts. To some, the Ghoulies franchise was a shameless rip-off of Gremlins, and a poor man's version at that. To others, like me and everyone I know, it's a peerless creature feature that has an energy and exuberance that is rare in B movies.
