A superior rites-of-passage comedy, set in Brooklyn. Michael (Andrew McCarthy) arrives at St Basil's Catholic School for Boys in 1965, and is soon up to his neck in all the usual adolescent agonies - girls, booze and sex (or lack of it), all of which are violently discouraged by the Brethren. Refreshingly non-cheesey nostalgia, with some excellent early performances from the young cast.
