Robert Langdon is back and this time he's bringing the full force of his slightly ponderous lateral thinking to the dark secrets of the Illuminati. After the death of a pope the cardinals lock themselves away to decide upon a successor, but it soon becomes clear there is a killer in their midst, and, as the bodies pile up, Langdon must follow the clues and race against time to uncover not only the murderer, but to find an ingenious bomb that will destroy the Vatican City. Apparently based on a vaguely popular book I can only presume that it was more entertaining than this. Big of budget, small of brain, 'Angels and Demons' does at least rip along at a pace and, of course, it all looks very slick and glossy.
