Set against the backdrop of a dystopic medieval city, 'Franklyn' tells the story of four troubled individuals whose fractured and lonely lives are all in danger. Of our four protagonists one, Preest, is more isolated than the rest, a masked vigilante leading a liminal existence in the oppressively religious Meanwhile City. The other three in this myriad of lonely souls, suicidal arts student Emilia, recently jilted Milo and Esser, a father who wants only to find his estranged son, exist in a cold, contemporary portrait of London. As the two cities mirror one another distinctions between reality and fantasy begin to blur and the four find their worlds in collision, their existence part of a palpable palimpsest.
