The year is 2700 and Earth is polluted, barren and exhausted. Wall-E is the last of a group of clean-up robots sent to restore Earth by lifting and compressing the endless quantities of rubbish left behind by a human race that has withdrawn to the safety of space. But with the arrival of an environmental scout robot, Wall-E discovers something he never expected... love. Pixar's latest animation is a beautifully rendered ecological tale that deftly avoids preaching, and though sweet, is never saccharine. A witty, good natured pleasure for bigguns and littluns.
