Hasbeen rock guitarist Gary is going through something of a mid-life crisis, writing commercial jingles for local radio, his girlfriend a control freak and his mate a git, he is struggling to find perfection in an imperfect world. But Gary does have lucid dreams, an aptitude he is determined to develop, especially as they centre round a translucently clad Penélope Cruz, and when his world begins to fall apart they're the only thing that keeps him going. "The Good Night" is an unremarkable but easy going romantic comedy.
