Review
London the swinging sixties; Ray Purbbs is the editor of Mouth, a 'radical' underground magazine and aided, but often hindered, by his friends Alex, Hugo and Jill, it's Ray's aim to change the world and turn Notting Hill Gate into a 'love state' - a pretty far out idea from a guy who is sexually repressed, incredibly naive and whose own solicitor describes him as an 'odious cretin'. Unfairly panned by the critics and largely ignored by the public, "Hippies" is an early comedy classic created by Father Ted writing partners Arthur Matthews and Graham Linehan. NB there is a lot of canned laughter on this DVD.
