The demise of the real-life Chicken Ranch inspired the musical stage play, and this light hearted big screen version has Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd and the Chicken Ranch's proprietress, Miss Mona, as unlikely crusaders against big city TV moraliser Melvin P. Thrope, whose latest obsession is to expose the Chicken Ranch to public scandal, and thus close it down.
