A suitably dubious and heroic re-working of the legendary long distance rider Frank T. Hopkins and his faithful steed, Hidalgo. Tortured by his betrayal of the American Indians Frank accepts an offer to enter the Ocean Of Fire, a three thousand mile race across the Arabian desert against the finest horses that the continent has to offer; but as if the competition wasn't stiff enough,and the elements weren't harsh enough, there are some within the group of racers who will do anything to win. Hidalgo is an almost endearing action adventure of the old school variety, the script isn't great and neither is the acting, but there's enough spectacle and stunning scenery to keep the undemanding of us entertained.
