The Italian Job is a big budget, super glossy action heist flick, if all reference to the seminal original starring Michael Caine had been dispensed with it would stand as slick slice of escapism, but since it did decide to make the association it lacks the originality, wit, class, and, arguably, the best car chase ever committed to celluloid.
