Jack Black, the record store assistant who gave John Cusack serious competition for screen charisma in High Fidelity, and Kyle Gass marry their comic talents to equally impressive musical skills in this sprawling and consistently entertaining DVD. Tenacious D are a delusional duo who firmly believe they are The Greatest Rock Band In The World, when in truth they're not even the best band on the open mic circuit. Their conviction, though, leads to a set of exemplary acoustic songs in a metal style and an inspired collection of absurdist comedy. The DVD includes a concert at Brixton Academy, but the HBO episodes, spread across both discs, are where it's really happening.
