DRIVE (2011)

A mysterious Hollywood stuntman, mechanic and getaway driver lands himself in trouble when he helps out his neighbour.
Well, this film looks set to become one of the best of 2011. The cast gets where director Refn is coming, adjusting their performances to pitch-perfect minimalism, where even a twitched muscle can stand out. Gosling has never used his physicality better (he's not given a lot else to work with) and this movie is testament to the power of his screen presence. Even more re find out more...

FARGO (1996)

Certification18 Our Rating

An excellent black comedy, handsome thriller and a tall story that keeps you guessing as it unwinds. The genuinely ridiculous plot (a man pays a couple of goons to 'pretend' to kidnap his wife in order to get his paws on his in-laws' 'ransom' money) is completely credible as mighty plans fall apart, spiralling ever more beyond the protagonist's control and leaving us marvelling at the complex stupidity of human nature. A modern classic.
