One of the classic Chaplin feature films in which the little tramp falls in love with a blind flower girl and, through a number of typical exploits, raises the money to pay for an operation. Chaplin's comic genius has rarely, if ever, been bettered and is as fresh now as it was fifty years ago. find out more...

Multi-Oscar-winning tear-jerker with King of Hollywood Hanks as the chump, sorry, Gump in question. As America's best loved bozo, he overcomes his immense naivety to become the hero of a nation, with the help of some ground-breaking computer wizardry. Unashamedly nostalgic feel-good fodder, or reactionary Bush territory )*&, take your pick. find out more...

A fantastic family movie and one of the best pure adventure films ever made. THE film that single-handedly made archaeologists hip, as Ford battles to save the Biblical Ark of the Covenant from the dastardly Nazis. Two hours of swash-buckling fun, excitement and entertainment. A modern classic. find out more...

Chaplin's inventive and devastating satire on the woes of modern industrialised life, featuring the last appearance of his Little Tramp character and his first use of sound effects. The classic scene, in which he gets sucked into a production line epitomises this film's clever inventiveness. find out more...

Captain Jack Sparrow has lost nearly everything; his treasure, his beloved boat, even his treacherous crew. What Jack hasn't lost however is his roguish charm, envious self-belief and a single minded determination that what was once his will become his again. 'Pirates of the Caribbean' also has true love, much righteous daring do and a ship full of the undead, but this high seas romp is made by Johnny Depp's hilariously roguish pirate; a comic tour de force and a rip-roaring adventure to boot. find out more...
SHREK (2001)

Shrek is an Ogre who lives in contented anonymity in his swamp, but the threat of losing his home forces the reluctant beast to set off an adventure to rescue a tougher than old boots damsel in distress, closely followed by a particularly gobby donkey. Shrek effectively carries on the fine tradition began by 'Toy Story', stunning computer animation tied to a story that's apparently for kids but which has a script that's knowing, witty, loaded with in-jokes and squarely aimed at the adults. Re-issued gem from the little master. "The Gold Rush" is acclaimed as one of his funniest by many critics, and was re-edited by Chaplin himself to incorporate sound, 17 years after it's original 1925 release. find out more...

Bob Parr and his wife Helen are just a normal couple living with their three children in the suburbs, Bob hates his job as an insurance clerk, but hell, what sane man wouldn't? There is nothing remarkable about the Parr family, nothing at all… well except that fifteen years earlier Bob and Helen were two of the greatest super heroes the world has ever known, fearless crime fighters put out to pasture when the authorities began to count the financial costs of the way they did business. find out more...

Seth Rogen and James Franco made a stupid movie about North Korea because no one stopped them. With the assistance of Lizzy Caplan (who is occasionally funny) the duo journey to North Korea to kill Kim Jong-Un. It's not even really that it's an offensive film - though it may offend some - it's more that it's just a really bad film. And by that I meant boring, sloppy and not at all entertaining. But there are at least some rather good 'James Franco is a twatty TV show host' style scenes.
