Nemo is a clown fish and the only son of his over protective father; when the young lad is whisked a way by a scuba diver, his dad sets out on an adventure across the seas to find him, aided only by spectacularly forgetful regal blue tang called Dory. Finding Nemo has some great scenes, the vegan sharks and hippy turtles are amongst the highlights, but though visually stunning, as you would expect from Pixar, it lacks the sly but unobtrusive wit that made Toy Story and its sequel such a delight find out more...

SHREK (2001)

Shrek is an Ogre who lives in contented anonymity in his swamp, but the threat of losing his home forces the reluctant beast to set off an adventure to rescue a tougher than old boots damsel in distress, closely followed by a particularly gobby donkey. Shrek effectively carries on the fine tradition began by 'Toy Story', stunning computer animation tied to a story that's apparently for kids but which has a script that's knowing, witty, loaded with in-jokes and squarely aimed at the adults. The first ever computer-generated feature lenght movie. It's young Andy's birthday and favourite toy, cowboy doll Woody begins to panic. The arrival of flashy space ranger, Buzz Lightyear confirms his worst fears, but the seemingly ill-suited rival toys are soon forced to team up and embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Brilliant fun for all. find out more...

Woody is kidnapped by an antique toy collector, and kept with a new bunch of characters, while the rest of the gang come to his rescue. It's rare that sequels improve on their predecessors, especially when they're as entertaining and inventive as the original Toy Story, but this does. For those not in the know the two films are completely computer animated and full of great gags, dazzling action and deft action. Kids love it, adults may react more deeply. An absolute must. find out more...

As Andy goes to college the toys have been accidentally delivered to a day-care centre rather than to the attic. Woody takes command, but can he get them all home?
None of you will need telling what this fantastic Pixar movie is about; fun for the children, but with enough buried fears at its heart, separation, abandonment, the sense of loss as children grow up and away from you, to keep both children and adults emotionally engrossed. find out more...
