A truly effective horror movie made with imagination and style. A dead child murderer starts getting into a group of teenagers' dreams and the line between sleep and reality becomes very blurred. Not one to watch late at night all alone! find out more...

Much imitated but never equalled, this is the definitive space nightmare. The crew of a commercial spacecraft are stalked by a stowaway, mutating monster of veracious appetite. A middle-aged widower enters a relationship with a beautiful, docile, doll-like younger girl. The film starts slowly, just vague hints to leave you a little uneasy, but you are like a fish on a hook and you will be landed as this women's revenge film, perhaps the nastiest most disturbing horror ever made, will leave unforgettable images etched in your mind forever. find out more...

Playing against time, like Memento, this is a gut wrenching exploration of an horrific act of indiscriminate brutality and the vicious revenge that is its consequence. Irreversible is an exceptionally powerful movie and one of the most disturbing pieces of cinema I've ever seen (the tortuously protracted rape scene would have Ghandi screaming for the death penalty). Awesome....but you have been warned. find out more...

One of a new ilk of 80s horror movies in which the weirdos live within society - this time a family of vampires touring small town USA hunting and killing in order to survive. A desperate mob they may be but also very human, so much so that when one meets a normal guy she has to choose her family or him. find out more...

Guillermo Del Toro's blockbusting tale of a young girl struggling to make sense of the violent world around her was a big 2006 arthouse hit. Continuing his exploration of the impact of the Spanish Civil War on his generation (it was also the backdrop for his excellent ghost story, The Devil's Backbone) Del Toro's fantasy mixes strong horror with fairytale-style aesthetics to great effect, making Ofelia's escape into an imaginary realm a poignant response to the cruel realities of her existence. find out more...
