Huge epic, set during the heyday of Republican Rome, in all its ostentatious glory. The story details the purchase and selection of slaves, the harsh discipline and routine of the gladiators' school, the new comradeship balked by the realisation that a gladiator must kill or be killed. Then the film really comes into its own with the superbly staged revolt and escape, led by the slave who, with his unlikely army, holds the Roman army at bay for four years. Magnificent, masterful....a classic! find out more...

A rag bag of criminal misfits are given one last chance of redemption in the form of a suicide mission deep into German occupied territory. Much of the action takes place during the army's increasingly exasperated attempts to mould these 12 thugish rebels into an elite fighting force, which provides The Dirty Dozen with considerably more humour than is normally associated with such films. Brutal and bloody this is a classic of the genre. find out more...

Set in 1910, this rip-roaring comedy is a 'Wacky-Races' in the air. In a quest to prove that Great Britain is top dog in the air, Lord Rawnsley (Robert Morley) puts up a £10,000 prize. Many stereotypical nationals take part (there's a fanatical Prussian determined to win at all costs), a sextet of women, villains and good guys. Featuring plenty of slapstick and filmed in that wonderful technicolor. A great Sunday afternoon film. find out more...
