A lovely fantasy of a far-off star where one era is ending and another dawning. The prophets decree that only a wee cute (muppet-like) Gelfling can save the world from domination by the evil Skeksis forever. This stunningly made film's imaginative settings could only be from the Henson team. Excellent.

THE INVISIBLE MAN (1933)

A mad megalomaniac scientist has been experimenting with drugs (monocane) and discovered the secret of invisibility, except that he normally covers himself in bandages in order to be seen! After a bit of crime and killing in a Sussex village the demented soul has to leg it.
Superior stuff, especially with the slow uncloaking of the scientist's invisibility, and the movie that turned Claude Rains into a star.

An isolated scientific research station in Antarctica is besieged from within (literally!) by an alien with the ability to take over any living organism. This inevitably leads to conflict and suspicion amongst the scientists. High suspense and excellent special effects make this a fine film.

WESTWORLD (1973)

A futuristic entertainment park has been split into three zones, WesternWorld, MedievalWorld and RomanWorld, each full of human looking robots, and guests are allowed to indulge in their fantasies, including murder and sex. However a series of technical hitches lead to some androids misbehaving and ends with the sinister Yul Brynner stalking the mockup saloons slaughtering unsuspecting tourists.
