A ballet dancer wins the lead in "Swan Lake" and is perfect for the role of the delicate White Swan, Princess Odette, but slowly loses her mind as she strives to subsume, at the behest of the director, the personality of the Black Swan, Odile. Once again Aronovsky returns to his familiar themes of obsession and addiction (see also 'Requiem For A Dream', 'Pi' and 'The Wrestler') and has created an enigmatic and frustrating film. A strange, beautiful film. We watch mother and son as they go about their peculiar daily routine, and we see a dead child in the ocean. It's unnerving and, somehow, everything seems eerily sexual, too. Then we are invited to go underwater where we get a closer look at the strange story science and earth have to tell. There are only mothers and sons in this coastal town. There is routine and control - but who is in control and what happens if someone starts to ask que find out more...

A 'Leatherface' type murderer who wears other people's faces, kills at an all-night horror-thon at an old theatre put on by a bunch of film students. Maggie, the lead character, believes it's really Lanyard Gates, a crazed film maker who killed his family live on stage fifteen years ago. And now he's back to kill his daughter, Sara, who is believed to really be Maggie.

SUSPIRIA (1976)

A young girl turns up at her new ballet school only to undergo a series of experiences not in the normal choreographer's manual. Extraordinarily grotesque murders pile up as Argento happily abandons plot mechanics to provide a superb display of his technical skill with an eye for the bizarre and for vulgar over-decoration. The most gothic movie ever made, stylish, tongue in cheek, over the top and it still manages to scare you! Watch it! find out more...

"Josephine Decker has created a new style of thriller that employs allegory, incorporates touches of David Lynch as well as Magritte -esque imagery. Decker's setting of a remote farm feels like a metaphor for what turns out to be hell. The raw and emotional (and yes, sometimes funny) dialog tells a story that can seem familiar at points but really is meant to keep you guessing and off balance. I really enjoyed how the undertones of this film came to life through her very deft contrast of the find out more...

A collection of three short(ish) films from three masters of asian extreme cinema. Fruit Chan gives us the 40 minute short that inspired his feature 'Dumplings', a gastronic nightmare about eternal youth and Aunt Mai's special recipe dumplings. Park Chan-Wook's Cut follows the story of a film extra with a serious grudge against a director who is just too 'nice', and Mike Takashi presents a bizarre tale, told with very little dialogue, about a woman haunted by a childhood trauma. A good showcase find out more...
