1999 and Sierra Leone is in the midst of civil war, the rebels infamously using an army of indoctrinated children to do their genocidal work. In the midst of this bloodshed two unlikely men are drawn together, one a desperate father whose son has become a rebel soldier, the other a self-serving white Rhodesian mercenary in search of an immense uncut diamond. CRIME STORY (1993)

Jackie Chan plays a police man assigned to track down kidnappers, unaware that his partner is also a villain. Blazing through incredible stunts, car chases and brutal rooftop brawls (not forgetting the heart attack victim brought back to life with jump leads and a revving engine!), we see Jackie the maverick cop in full throttle to bring this case to its final and bloody conclusion. With non of his normal comic routines this is the best pure thriller Chan has ever starred in.

Bryan is an ex-government operative whose job title, whilst slightly unclear, had involved being able to kill anyone with just about anything. When Bryan's teenage daughter is kidnapped by slave traders he launches into a one-man mission to make them realise what a huge mistake they've made. 'Taken' is a balls out action thriller with a smattering of schmaltz (paternal love), some pretty reactionary viewpoints and some awesomely two dimensional baddies, just in case you were thinking of doubting

He might have collected his bus pass, but our Sean proves he's still as hard as they come in this explosive thriller. When a disgruntled General and his men hole themselves up in Alcatraz with a cache of chemical weapons and a bevvy of hostages, it's up to Connery and Cage, a chemical warfare boffin with a penchant for The Beatles, to save the day. Edge-of-the-seat actioner.

'Warrior King' is Tony Jaa's follow on to 'Ong Bak' and, like that film, is a relentless piece of beautifully choreographed, stunningly executed, bone crushing ballet and introduces the novel martial art of muaykodchasarn, elephant bone boxing for you mono
