ED WOOD (1995)

Certification15 Our Rating

Stylish biopic of Ed Wood who, since his premature death has gained the dubious moniker of being Hollywood's worst ever film director. With his motley crew of TV horror queen, Swedish wrestler, washed up junkie, Bela Lugosi et al, this transvestite gave us treats like "Plan 9 From Outer Space". Fab. find out more...
FARGO (1996)

Certification18 Our Rating

An excellent black comedy, handsome thriller and a tall story that keeps you guessing as it unwinds. The genuinely ridiculous plot (a man pays a couple of goons to 'pretend' to kidnap his wife in order to get his paws on his in-laws' 'ransom' money) is completely credible as mighty plans fall apart, spiralling ever more beyond the protagonist's control and leaving us marvelling at the complex stupidity of human nature. A modern classic.

Brilliant Monty Python skit on the life of Christ which also takes a few swipes at the sectarian nature of British left wing political parties. Brian never wanted to be a messiah but fame is thrust upon him. Caused a huge outcry when it was released. Still banned in the Republic of Ireland!! find out more...

Woody plays Isaac Davies, a man with a social conscience and a tangled love life; his wife has recently left him for another woman, his new girlfriend is only seventeen, and he's in love with the mistress of his best friend. A bittersweet social comedy framed as a loving tribute to neurotic New York, overlaid with an evocative Gershwin score, it's funny and sad in exactly the right proportions. Allen could well strive vainly ever to better this film. Filmed in black and white. find out more...

Shaun is a man about to get very familiar with his thirties and he's not pleased, a crap dead end job, a social life that revolves in its entirety around his local, a girlfriend, who's beginning to realise he's as tragic as he knows he is, and a best mate who's the only person in his insular universe who, comparatively, makes him look like he's got his act sorted. What Shaun needs is an outbreak of flesh eating zombies to get his priorities in perspective and, as a luck would have it, his neck o find out more...
